Alfred University ODK chapter awarded $1,000 leadership grant
Alfred University’s chapter of Omicron Delta Kappa is the recipient of a 2025 Maurice A. Clay Leadership Development Initiative Grant. The $1,000 grant will be used to support the program, “You Are My Neighbor,” which strives to bring people of different identities together within the university community.
The program, a mini-series which begins during the spring 2025 semester and continue into the fall 2025 semester, will be presented as an interactive museum that, according to the Alfred University ODK chapter’s grant application, “honors our histories, owns our identities, and celebrates the accomplishments and contributions of our diverse community members.”
The museum will include stories, food, music, and other activities that showcase Alfred University’s core values of intersectionality and inclusion.
“Our goal is to not only acknowledge the differences between us all but also to celebrate those differences as they are what make us each unique,” the application states. “We aim to create an interactive museum that honors our histories, owns our identities, and celebrates the accomplishments and contributions of our diverse community members."
Maurice A. Clay Leadership Development Initiative Grants are awarded by the Omicron Delta Kappa Society. The national leadership honor society, which has chapters on more than 300 college campuses in the United States, recognizes and develops leaders in collegiate and community life.
The Alfred University’s ODK chapter, housed in the Beth Robinson Judson Leadership Center, encourages collaboration among students, faculty, staff, and alumni to advance leadership. The chapter is co-advised by Abby Hurley, coordinator of the Judson Leadership Center, and Diana Maguire, associate professor of management and leadership in the College of Business and advisor to the leadership minor. The “You Are My Neighbor” program is a collaboration between the Judson Leadership Center, the office of HEOP/EOP Opportunities Programs Director Michele Doorley, and the office of Chief Diversity Officer Angie Taylor.
